Senate Bill 58 Update

As of this writing Senate Bill 58, which is now the “Parental Bill of Rights” bill has been vetoed by Governor Kelly. The Senate overrode the Governor’s veto (27 – 12) however the House did not receive the 2/3 needed to override the veto (72 – 50) short of the 84 votes needed to override the veto. Therefore, the bill has been officially vetoed by Governor Kelly and the veto stands.

May’s “Talks with Ted” Date

For those that have been keeping up with Auto-Graphics (Verso) and the Talks with Ted series the next date has been released. It will be on May 10, 2022 at 10:00 am Central Time. This is the time where our librarians can ask Ted questions concerning Verso. To join in on the session follow this link to register. New Leaf Cancellations

As many of you know, New Leaf has canceled indefinitely the pick-up dates of our weeded items. We realize this is a great inconvenience, and Cesar from New Leaf has expressed great regret. As far as finding a temporary remedy to this situation, the SWKLS Staff can help transport your weeded items to the Dodge City Recycling Center. The Center can only recycle books, which must be divided into separate boxes for paperbacks and hardbacks. For now, this is the best solution we can offer. To arrange our help, please let us know as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Library Cards

The tech team is proud to announce we have got our first batch of library cards printed and delivered. Kearny County Library was very patient with us as we worked on a layout as well as how colors are printed out. We now know the library card printer can print in full color on the front of the card but does a better print job with hues vs pastels. The back of the card can only print black. The board has passed that the first 50 cards are free. If you are interested in more than 50 cards it is .53 cents per card. The tech team also has mock-up designs for bingo cards and punch cards. If interested in printing some library cards for your library please e-mail or call Jody. Together we can work on a design and make it what you want. There is a wide variety of ways these cards can be used. Click here to see some mock-up designs.
