Professional Collection

Policy Statement

The Southwest Kansas Library System (SWKLS) curates a collection of titles to enable librarians to further develop their knowledge of librarianship.  By supplying these titles, SWKLS is providing an essential service to meet the information needs of the professional community.

The selection of any title does not constitute endorsement of its contents.  SWKLS recognizes that many materials are controversial and that any given item may offend a customer.  Decisions are not made on the basis of any approval or disapproval, but solely on the title in relation to the building of this collection and the serving of customer’s interests.

Definition

The SWKLS Professional Collection provides a small collection of materials for any interlibrary loan.  Although, we do have a few audio-visual materials available, 99% of the collection includes books in regular print.
