Ness City Public Library Interactive Display

Patrons were treated to an interactive bulletin board at Ness City Public Library, transporting them inside a magical storybook! What a creative way to get some patron engagement! Looks great, Lauries! 🙂

Interactive Movie at Liberal Memorial Library

Liberal Memorial Library patrons had a scary good time with an interactive movie, this week! Ghouls and boys were treated to a showing of that movie featuring the guy whose name you can’t say three times . . . 😉

Children’s Librarian Sara Munn was kind enough to send me the script to share with all of you, in case you’d like to have an interactive movie night featuring this movie, as well! See attached. Enjoy and let us know how your interactive movie goes!

Well done, Liberal!! (And those outfits are just so cool!)

Do a Trick, Be Entered to Win a Treat!

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice comes out in theaters, today, and we thought it would be a fun time to have a little themed game while learning about a cool tool on the internet!

Let’s turn on the juice and see what shakes loose!

The scenario: If you found this book (pictured) and you had to classify it under the Dewey Decimal system, what number would you assign it? Don’t run away if you’re not a cataloger!! Stay for a second and keep reading! 🙂

Okay, SO, first of all, here is a handy internet tool called Library Thing that you can use to figure out what Dewey number to classify something under. You can use Library Thing for this contest! In fact, we encourage it! Click on the blue link to access. Once there, click on the colored topic squares to open up sub-topics. Keep clicking to narrow your topic down to the Dewey number you feel fits best.

The second part of the contest (yes, there’s a second part!) is that you have to JUSTIFY your classification. All catalogers are different, so there is no “right” or “wrong.” This is all tongue-in-cheek, but whoever has the best justification for their number (whether it’s serious or just joking) will win the prize! Your SWKLS team will vote! 🙂

To enter: Email swilson@swkls.org with your answer by September 19th.

The prize: The handbook featured in the picture, which is also a storage box with a magnetic closure, full of Beetlejuice-themed stationery & a pocket journal.

The winner will be announced September 20th!

Performer Recommendations

I asked and you delivered! Below are some performers that were sent to me to recommend on the Weekly Wrap UP! These are all performers that have been used by a library in our membership.
