Kansas Communities Come Together in Disaster Relief Mission

When NWKLS put out the call for books for the school library in Grinnell, our state’s libraries answered. The small community is overwhelmed with the generosity they’ve received from individuals and libraries across the state. I just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all who have sent books, shared posts, etc. Your compassion and willingness to help are the hallmarks for fantastic librarianship as well as leadership.

Master all the skills you need to deliver a tabletop role-playing game program in the library!

For librarians or teachers who aren’t players themselves, the scope of role-playing games can seem overwhelming. Starting from the basics, Let’s Roll is a practical guide to delivering a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) in a school or public library, all within the time constraints imposed on library sessions. Coverage includes:

  • a step-by-step guide to setting up a TTRPG program in your school or public library, including an example of a TTRPG proposal;
  • advice on bringing senior management on board to a TTRPG program;
  • how to attract players, basic table rules, and preparing as a game master;
  • the health and learning benefits of TTRPGs including creativity, teamwork, cooperation, boosting confidence, and encouraging reading; and
  • a comprehensive list of TTRPG games and how to implement them.

Featuring case studies from librarians around the world focusing on their experiences setting up TTRPGs, Let’s Roll will help librarians, teachers, and other educators deliver an engaging program that delivers significant benefits on a budget – and is a huge amount of fun!

Verso Reports (new)

There is currently an issue with Verso, where when you attempt to download reports from the ‘Reports (new)’ tab, you receive an error message and are not able to download the report.

A ticket has been submitted with Auto-Graphics, and I will update you as soon as I have more information.

AI Books and Authors

AI is becoming a growing problem for many authors, both big and small. The Fault in Our Stars author, John Green, is no exception to either. Recently, on the YouTube channel Mythical Kitchen, he learned that he had fallen victim to the infamous AI cookbook scam.

This has become an issue for many authors, where someone takes “inspiration” from their work and creates a cookbook.

What really happens is that someone goes to an AI generator and asks it to create a cookbook for them. They then slap the title of a popular book on it and hope to get an unsuspecting buyer to purchase the book without them realizing it’s not actually associated with their favorite author.
