Next After-Lunch Course Registration Now Open

Mark your calendar for June 10 for the next After-Lunch Course with Pat Wagner. The topic for this session is Customer Service and the session will begin a 1:30 pm CT. The registration is being handled by Pat Wagner’s website. Since Pat is handling the registration the consultants wanted to let you know that when you register you will not get an automatic registration email. It might take a day or so before it is processed. You will get a prompt to add it to your calendar.

Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) Slogins Wordsmithing Workshops

The theme/slogan committee has narrowed the list down and we invite…frontline librarians to join us for any of the 3 wordsmithing sessions we will hold this month and next. This is a chance for your libraries to have their voices heard in creating the final slogan list that you all will vote on in September!

There isn’t any registration for the sessions. We encourage everyone to join and speak if they feel comfortable and if not we will have resources available for them to share their input. Notice that all sessions times are for the Eastern Time Zone.

New CDC Guidelines

Summary of Changes from the website: Updated May 13, 2021

  • Update that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance
  • Update that fully vaccinated people can refrain from testing following a known exposure unless they are residents or employees of a correctional or detention facility or a homeless shelter

ARSL Conference Dates and Scholarships

The 2021 ARSL Conference will be held at the Nugget Hotel in Reno/Sparks, Nevada, from October 20-23. We hope to see you for the full in-person experience, though we will also have select virtual offerings for those who can’t make the trip this time.

Our committee is excited to announce our 2021 theme: The Biggest Little Library Conference.

The scholarship window, to possible assistance with any expenses to attend the conference is open and can be accessed on ARSL’s webpage. The timeline for scholarships are:

  • 1st Week of May: Application Window Opens
  • May 28: Application Window Closes
  • July 2: Notification Deadline
  • July 6: Early Bird Registration Opens

PLA is heading to Portland, Oregon for the PLA 2022 Conference, March 23–25! Like the institutions they support, the role of the public library worker is ever-changing. The PLA 2022 Conference will also need to transform in order to provide public library professionals the opportunity to come together in person or virtually to reconnect with one another, reimagine the services they provide, and revitalize their passion for the work they do every day.

Want to be a part of PLA’s renowned educational programming? Submit a proposal and share your idea for a preconference or program. The deadline for submitting proposals is June 21, 2021 at 11:59 PM Eastern.

Tech Day Plus 2021

We are in the beginning stages of planning Tech Day Plus 2021. Tech Day will be held in Cimarron at the Gray County Recreation Center on September 24, 2021 for those who can come in person. The following week the SWKLS staff with be providing a virtual Tech Day Plus for those who want to attend on Zoom. Registration is soon to follow.


Technology Plans

We have begun receiving and reviewing technology plans for the 2022-2023 cycle. Please remember that technology plans are now tied to the accreditation cycle and no longer on a three year cycle. You would submit your plan this year and it will be valid for Jan 1st 2022 to Dec 31st 2023.
