Library Advocacy

The Kansas Library Association, Governmental Affairs Committee has decided to not have an in person advocacy day at the State Capitol this year.

The Committee is suggesting different things to do each month during the year. For the month of February the committee encourages local librarians to work with your local newspaper on an article on how your library is funded and how the funding impacts services that you can provide for your community.

Reconsideration Policies and Your Library

Central Kansas Library System is having a continuation of the discussion of reconsideration policies and your library. Books are being challenged more and more within libraries. They are opening this discussion up to anyone who would like to join in throughout the state. The session will be on February 15, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. Here is the Zoom Link to participate in the discussion.

Gail Santy, Chrisitie Snyder, Maribeth Shafer, and Patty Collins will facilitate the discussion. The discussion will be on: new book challenges that have been submitted since January and revisiting past challenges; proposed legislation that could effect library collections; and where to find book reviews to assist you in your collection development.

Last Day to Register for Summer Library Program is February 25th, 2022

Join us on Friday, March 4, 2022, at First Church of God for a fun-filled day of “Ocean of Possibilities”.Miss Patty Collins and Miss Diane Bott from Central Kansas Library System are presenting on 2022 Summer Library Program manual and going to show you that program planning is easier than digging for buried treasure.

WordPress Update 5.9

WordPress did an update you may notice two features that make it easy to edit in pages and posts.

1st – WordPress now has a sidebar that shows how the page is layed out. You can also remove blocks and drag & drop blocks where you want them in the sidebar. The ellipsis gives you a menu to remove, insert before and insert after. The ellipsis shows up on each block in the sidebar.

Ellipsis

2nd – When you add a new add block the (+) plus icon will be toward the bottom right of the block instead of the middle. Also where ever your cursor is at that time that is where WordPress will add the block. Each time you add a block you have to choose what kind of block you want instead of WordPress automatically adding paragraph blocks.
