Introduction

It’s easy for your email to get overwhelming.  In this lesson, you’ll learn how to clean up and organize your mail in Outlook.

Outlook is an email program that you can install on your computer to manage your email.  It connects to your web server and downloads your email to your desktop computer.  Oftentimes, this software is part of Microsoft Office.

To receive 2 hrs credit for this lesson, please complete this lesson by the last day of the month at 11:59 pm CST.

Content/Exercises:

  1.  Complete GCFLearnFree.org’s Outlook 2010 Lesson on Organizing and Managing Email.
  2.  Take some time to delete old messages from your mail.
  3. Unsubscribe from email lists you wish to no longer receive.
    • Look for emails from vendors that you’re interested in.
    • Emails should have unsubscribe links on the bottom of the emails.
    • If you need help, contact Janelle at SWKLS.
  4. Create at least one folder or filter.
  5. Check your Junk Mail.
    • Is there anything in there that really isn’t junk?
      • Move it to your inbox and let outlook know it isn’t junk.
  6. Come up with a plan for keeping your email cleaned up.
    • One idea it to spend 10 minutes every Monday morning (or another morning) cleaning it up.
    •  10 minutes every morning is another idea.
